This is cool to see, though I am of the sincere opinion that these DBT skills should be taught at an elementary school and middle school level. I don’t have BPD but these DBT skills have helped me out a lot. However, I agree with the sentiment here that DBT is not the only thing that’s effective for patients.
@soulsodef yes!!! they should TOTALLY be done in schools and there’s actually a movement(ish) to do so. Youth school DBT is called DBT-STEPS-A (Skills Training and Emotional Problem Solving for Adolescents). I don’t really know the whole picture yet but I follow DBT in Schools who wrote the book on DBT-STEPS-A. I’m working on learning more bc I am starting my masters in social work this fall and want to work in schools.

DBT takes constant work and practice daily. It’s not a magic bullet. But it does pay off dividends. Trust.
Can confirm!!!!

Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills: DEAR MAN
I sometimes feel guilty for running this blog. I am up from rock bottom, I am a graduate of the program but I am not a DBT master. There are skills I use subconsciously every day but mostly I struggle. My diary card would be far emptier than yours. I let my emotions manipulate my actions and that affects the people around me. I may have eliminated most of my problem behaviors but my emotions are still messy. So often I feel like I don’t deserve this platform I created when I don’t practice what I preach. I know what the wise mind response is, I’m not going to take any rash action, I’m just being honest.
